Taplow, Buckinghamshire

Taplow is a village in south west Buckinghamshire close to the border with Berkshire. It was recorded in the Domesday book of 1068 as Thapeslau, but its history extends beyond this period where there is evidence of an Iron Age hill fort at Taplow Court. In the grounds of Taplow Court can be found the remains of a Norman church that was pulled down in the 1820s and a new church, now dedicated to St Nicolas was built in the village. The churchyard of the original church contains the Grenfell Family vault together with memorials to the Grenfell family and Julian and Gerald Grenfell, images and inscriptions of which can be found on the Taplow Monumental Inscription page.

Taplow parish records list numerous Grenfell related Baptisms (1804-1892), Marriage (1811), Burials (1816-1879).
