Ludgvan

Ludgvan is a village in West Cornwall, situated  to the North East of Penzance. Whilst the the origins of Ludgvan are attributed to the arrival of its patron Saint Ludowanus, the place name appears to derive from the Cornish for place of ashes or burnt place.

The parish church is dedicated to Saint Ludowanus and later jointly with Saint Paul the Apostle, and is location of several Grenfell Baptisms (1824-1831)  and Marriages (1765-1860).

Further information can be found on the Ludgvan page of the Cornwall Online Parish Clerks website and the Genuki page dedicated to Ludgvan as well as West Penwith Resources.
