Originally called St Breock-in-Kirrier (Kerrier), St Breaca or St Briack, Breage (pronounced ‘Braig’, or ‘Breeg’) is a parish situated between Penzance and Helston, named in honour of Saint Breage or Breaca, said to have been an Irish nun who came to Cornwall in the 5th-century. The 12th century church which houses a remarkable collection of frescoes dating from the 1400s, is the resting place of Lydia Grenfell, died 1829 and Mary Willyams nee Grenfell, died 1830, more information for whom can be found on the monumental inscriptions and records pages.
