Grenfell Loyal DevoirThe purpose of the site is to further interest in the Grenfell family name. In addition the Grenfell name is registered with Guild of One-Name Studies, the objective of which is to research all occurrences of the name GRENFELL and its variants, GRENFIELD, GRINFIELD, GREENFILL, GRINFILL, GRINFIELD, GRANFELL  etc.

Beginnings
The study into the Grenfell family name really began in the 1980’s when Alison Stephen in Victoria, Australia and Arthur Coomb in Cornwall, England were carrying out independent research. Alison registered the Grenfell name – No. 1238 – with the Guild of One-Name Studies in 1997 and after meeting in Truro in 1998 they decided to collaborate and pool their resources.

Research and Family Trees
Databases have been compiled to include indexes to Civil Registration of Births, Marriages and Deaths, Parish Records of Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, Overseas records, the IGI and published indexes of Wills, etc.

The Family Trees section on the website, which was last updated in December 2021, contains 4245 persons divided into 1473 families.
 
As with all data of this nature it should only be used as a guide for further research into primary sources and no guarantee can be given or implied as to the accuracy of any information on the site or the data included.
